Notes
Digeridoo was originally released on R&S with four tracks: "Digeridoo" and an early fade of "Flap Head", plus "Phloam" and an extended version of "Isoprophlex" (track 2 from the first Aphex Twin release, Analogue Bubblebath). This Belgian 12" was repressed in 2001 & 2006 with sleeve & label variations.
The 1992 UK 12" & CD, both released via Outer Rhythm, insert a slight edit of "Analogue Bubblebath 1" (track 1 from the first Aphex Twin release) after "Digeridoo" and use the full-length "Flap Head", here titled "Flaphead". However, they mistakenly label "Phloam" as "Isoprophlex", and they don't contain the actual "Isoprophlex" track at all.
The Classics compilation includes "Digeridoo", "Phloam", the edit of "Analogue Bubblebath 1" and the full-length "Flaphead", as well as the extended version of "Isoprophlex", but retitles the latter as "Isopropanol".

First heard this on John Peels BBC Radio 1 late night show around Xmas 91 I guess, never heard anything like it before and grabbed it at first chance I got on release. Miss that show and that guy, defo opened some doors for some underground artists like Richard. -
Different in what way? This needs to be listed in the notes.
I looked at the scans of the covers of both versions and can't see any difference (other than reflections in the shrinkwrap on the original listing). Does the second one just have the wrong version's scans? -
I just A/B'ed this vinyl with the 'Classics' CD reissue in the black R&S jacket on my 1200 vs CDJ. The CD 'Classics' tracks sound more hi-res, especially in the high-end of the spectrum. The 12" sounds muddier and less dynamic to my ears.

I like the song but not detecting much dynamic range. Reminds me of an MP3. Not noisy at least. Would have preferred a reissue of Classics (1995)
-
I came here to complain (twice) about some fun and silly dance tracks (with repeats on the second platter) of a 12" WITH A BOOMERANG ON ITS COVER
-
Extremely very crazy good sounding repress and the bonus versions are excellent IDK what aphexacid is on about; can't exactly criticize them if you haven't even heard them.

I’m impressed with the sound on this release. Zero surface noise. And the noise floor in the music seems to be reduced.
I’ll be honest though, i didn’t bother with the “expanded” 2nd disc. As much of a hardcore aphex twin fan as I am, I don’t really see the purpose of these tracks. I’d have been happier if they omitted the disc and made it cheaper. I’ll never listen to it on my turntable. -

Edited 11 months agoIt's Didgeridoo. Remastered. In 2024. If you liked the original EP it's more of that. Very minimal surface noise. To me the Cr7E versions of the songs aren't really that different except for being a little longer, but they're a nice extra I guess. I do feel like Isoprophlex (Slow) and Didgeridoo (Live in Cornwall, 1990) could have been swapped out for the Cr7E versions of Isoprophlex and Flap Head but it's not too big of a deal. Still definitely the definitive version.
