This record marked the end of Darkthrone's classic era. Contrary to common opinion, this stands out as a real gem in their discography. A fresh approach to black metal, considering the date of it's release, it blends elements of first wave black metal with the traditional sound the band established in previous records. Although the drums sound a little weak, for Darkthrone standards it's still a great sounding record. Dark and aggressive, varied yet old school, this was a higher point in their career. Great pressing overall. -

The cover art is great but the album has no catchiness.
The only part worth to is the drum part from the last song "The Serpents Harvest".
Fenriz claimed in interviews that he had a burnout around 1996 and this album shows what this means. Spirit got left somewhere... -
