Soft Cell – Torch

Great extended 12 inch version, clean dynamic sound. But the paper sleeve is the thinnest in my entire collection. Deducted one star.

Phenomenal song! Amazing saxophone on top of a photo-techno rhythm. That intro... I could listen to that for days! This used to be a staple in my monthly 5 hour sets around the 1 or 2 AM "Marc" ;-)

My copy is solid black on the A-side as if the label wasn't attached. I can't find this version on Discogs. Does anyone else have this one? My etchings match this page.

This is a great mellow no nonsense 80's electronic song with its superb electric kick drum, saxaphone and soft vocals. Nothing obscure or alternative, just an great semi-underground track which flows along perfectly without going over the top or trying to be too different. A must for the 80's synthetic synth pop collector, you wont be dissapointed.

I hearing this gem at about 4 in the morning back in 1983 on KROQ and being blown away by it on first listening (I still own that cassette where I recorded it live of the air that fateful morning! :) I quickly went out and bought the 12" with my allowance. It took me years to find the 7" version! Btw, a very nice video too if you're lucky enough to see it!
