Sun Ra And His Myth Science Arkestra* – When Sun Comes Out

Hmmm...a nice mix of experimental percussive with free-form pieces - not traditional theme-based jazz but scattered 'out there'. Sometimes crazily (the track ' ' comes to mind). I do like Ra's more theme-based, twin sax melody type numbers, but the early raw sound here is fresh and engaging
Nice 180 gram, smooth as butter vinyl - after a spin-clean and 3 plays to break-in it is dead quiet - nice pressing!

The overall quality, vinyl, sound and cover, of the 2018 gatefold edition is great. There is one minor thing though that bugs me: they changed the song title Circe (named after the daughter of the sun god Helios in Greek mythology) to Circle. Why would anyone do that? Didn't they know the original, older editions? Did they think they were super-clever? As far as I know (and that includes CD editions as well) this one from 2018 is the only edition with Circle. Maybe it's just a typo. But the sticker called it Circle as well. It's annoying.

Great record but there is also trumpeting by Walter Miller and piano by Sun Ra ofcourse..

i wonder if all those double entries for the saturn reissues(180grams and normal)from the same year come from the misunderstanding of that 180 grams. at least my 180grams copy of "when sun comes out" is 149grams. and none of my other 180gram reissues really really has 180grams precisely.
