New Order – Get Ready

A bit low volume, but nice anyway! Silent, no cracks and pops.

Unfortunately I have to agree with many of the comments about this pressing on Discogs especially theBadArts. For me, this is a disappointingly quiet pressing, I had to really crank the volume on my poor KLH 5's to get it to the desired listening level. Sounds a bit flat, harsh and muddy and I felt there could have been a bit more separation between the different instruments…strange to say but this pressing lacks the roundness and smoothness that I first loving when I first heard this album in 2001 and I would have been listening to it on CD. Shame because I had really high hopes this album would translate to vinyl really well. Might try and seek out an original pressing for comparison.

not familiar with this album in any format, but come just from hearing Corruption (newer reissue) I have to say this is a pretty canned sounding release. yes, it is clear (for that matter flat and quiet too) but it is very harsh sounding with dynamics or separation in the instruments. sounds kinda muddy. will be returning.

Ok pressing. It's not that the level is a bit low (that was to be expected given the length of the album and that it's only 1 LP), because surface noise is low and so it can be cranked a bit higher on the amp without adverse effects. But it's also a rather flat mixing and mastering, not much more dynamic than the CD version, a bit thin compared to the great bass extension of previous New Order releases. Again, not a fault of this rather good pressing: it simply would require some thorough remastering of the original recording.

If there is A BETTER opportunity than August 2022 to issue a much needed 21st anniversary repackage of this album, this time spread over 2 x 12" vinyl records - with much beefed up remastered sound, then London/Warner are absolute tools to over this chance once again (seeing as last year's 20th anniversary also went unnoticed.)

It appears they are far more interested in repackaging/reformatting and indeed re-colourising the covers and vinyl for JOY DIVISION's back catalogue than they ever bother doing with New Order. Although the recent reissue of the first 6 Factory 12" singles (again not that much cop to be honest) up to Thieves Like Us was at least something ....so why on earth can they not have replicated the studio albums with the packaging that they deserve - staying 100% true to the originals (having failed to do so with PC&L, LowLife and Brotherhood when they were shoddily remastered/reissued in 2014)?

It would indeed seem that New Order's classic era albums always get a crappy deal compared to the Joy Division ones - what gives?

I own both the 2015 reissue and the original copy and… they both sound okay? I would personally say that the original copy is louder but the reissue sounds clearer. Both sound decent and it’s exaggerated to say that the reissue sounds bad. It just needs to be a double LP release.

My copy without code and sticker. Record sounds better than original 2001 CD, for sure. As for dynamics, I guess you can't get much better mastering with that kind of production and mixing. Vinyl came quite clean, although in paper sleeve. Low volume, but I don't see that as a big problem.

Wasted opportunity to press it as a double vinyl....the original pressing sounds better!

Crystal sounds amazing here, but the mastering is quiet. This is not a problem for me, especially since my copy has very little surface noise but it does lack dynamics in some songs (especially towards the middle of the record).
