only 85% is kind of criminal for i agree with the sentiment other commenters share, this is one of the best sounding records in my collection, mix is extremely clear and crisp so the quiet vocal interludes really cut through

I just got this particular vinyl in a German thrift store but why do so very few people have this edition, is it rare or what? I paid 3€ for these 2LPs (nm, vg+)

I think this is probably the pressing that I was introduced to in 1979, now having found it and picked it up 45 years later. Terre Haute pressings dominate the Midwest. This one guy Dan, the roommate of my friend D., brought it in from the record store and tossed it on his typical Midwest overpowered hi-fi. It was a traumatizing experience, as he sat at the end of a bed and stared at me with a sadistic grin the whole way through.
In our current time, it may be easy to critique this, and lay it out on a dissecting slab, safely, with objective distance. But at its moment... when murmurings of punk were found afoot, when Devo and Talking Heads were flattening down the arena rock of the immediate past. Bands were named after places, familiar or mythical: Boston, Kansas, Styx. The Cars had made a mark. Change was in the air. And then this. Sonic assault indeed.

No front hype sticker on my Netherlands pressing. This thing is a sonic beast. Slams hard! I had an OG US press a while back and it was nowhere near this good. There's stuff I'm hearing that I never knew were there for decades!

This pressing is a little on the bright side, but it sounds great. I like the oddity of Zappa on the rainbow Capitol label.

Awesome pressing of a great album. Bob Ludwig, so that’s to be expected. Side A is just relentless and in your face!

I have a version of this that matched the Australian ones, except with Matrix MX187829 SBP2372867-3. The difference is the second last number is a 7 instead of a 6.
