The Housemartins - London 0 Hull 4 "The sound of the vinyl record of 'London 0 Hull 4' by The Housemartins is overall solid, but with some nuances. The bass could be a bit more pronounced, while the midrange is occasionally over-presented, leading to a slightly harsh effect, especially in the range from 600Hz to 1.6kHz. However, the highs above 2kHz are appropriately balanced and contribute to the overall sound." -

Don't know why I bought the album, guess of the Happy Hour sound -

Brilliant & charming debut of playful joyful infectious upbeat pop w/ a soul/R&B/gospel strain, pogo-dance beats & sharp lyrical observations coupled with a jumble of wacky Marxism & heartfelt Christianity. This is as good as 80's pop/rock got.
Deserves its fair share of praise. -

Growing up in the midwest US wilderness, and with no knowledge of anything, I always figured these guys were imitating the Smiths, but with more political lyrics. But whether they were or not, this album was one of my favorites back when, and it remains so today. Super catchy, great basslines, great album!
