It’s nice that this got the Mofi treatment…however, all of Martino’s work deserves this! -

This is a mid '80s Japanese reissue of one of Pat Martino's best works.
Pat's playing is always on, and this release is no different. He's ed by the great Ben Tucker on bass and Eddie Green, piano.
The opening track is a daring exploration and every player has room to stretch. Pat tips his hat with some Wes-inspired octaves. The album progresses from here with a nice journey through some standards and originals.
My favorite track is Coltrane's "Lazy Bird". This one is fiery and demonstrates Pat's bebop chops, which are impressive.
The pressing is decent, however the loudest content, primarily "Lazy Bird", suffers from clipping on the transients. The piano solo sounds distorted. This is a bummer.
