Great sounding piece of vinyl here. Low end is both thick and tight. Mids-highs are crisp and clear. Strong and powerful when you crank it up (for the neighbors!). Great press here.
-
Gotta agree with the negative reviews here. This is shit. Leads up front and too loud. Everything else pushed way back. Compressed sounding garbage. There are better pressings of this Priest essential, too bad I chose this one. Should have known better. Must have been high when I purchased it.

Not a best LP record quality wise, but it’s not as bad as people saying here in comments. Maybe I got lucky but my pressing sounds pretty descent, little noisy sometimes but it’s not terrible. Little compression, not crazy though. Overall, it’s worth to have it, especially considering the reasonable price.

This album is just purely amazing. Absolutely defining what heavy metal is all about. The production is amazing, vast, and heavy here. Every song is fantastic and it is really just a flawless album. This original LP sounds absolutely incredible. I was lucky enough to snag a sealed copy. This thing sounds incredible. Popping on my copy throughout “Love Bites” but could probably be taken out with a deep clean. No louder than the music so not a worry. Amazing record. So happy to own a good clean original copy.

The absolute peak monster Priest album and a must-own. By the time you reach the first dual Tipton and Downing harmonic solo you are swept away no coming back for the next glorious hour. -
Edited one year agoUnfortunately like other reviews, the pressing I got sounds like a CD master, which I would have been fine with just to have another Priest album in my collection, but when I got to the title track it is distorted as all hell - not enjoyable at all. I don't like unnecessarily refunding things from my local record store as I know it's not an easy business to be in, but this is the first time I have.
-
What some great songs on this album. It sounds great, as usual. I had been looking for this album for quite some time.

Bought to replace an aged vinyl recording long since recycled, does not have the same impact on me that it had when i was a 21 year old rock fan

To be honest, reviewing an album like “Defenders Of The Faith” should be fairly easy.
You’d just need to mention some of its tracks, such as “Freewheel Burning”, “Jawbreaker”, “Rock Hard Ride Free”, “The Sentinel”, “Love Bites” and the duo formed by “Heavy Duty” and the title track.
There you have half a dozen of classic, heavy metal staples. Is there any need to say anything else?
Which is funny because by 1984 Judas Priest had already been not only influential but truly seminal for almost a decade, and fundamental albums such as “Sad Wings Of Destiny”, “Sin After Sin”, “Killing Machine”, “British Steel” or “Screaming For Vengeance” were already in the past, not only helping to define their times’ hard rock and heavy metal scenes but, more than 40 years on, these are still acknowledged as key stylistic touchstones.
So, in an apparent state of grace and only two years after that solid blast of heavy metal called “Screaming For Vengeance” and a hugely successful tour that got them a lifetime ban from the Madison Square Garden, the Priest still had the inspiration to put together a further masterpiece of eighties’ heavy metal.
And what a brilliant album this is.
From its title, we know we are getting a no- nonsense, all- out, heavy metal album, and you just need to listen to any the above mentioned songs to realize that.
Rob Halford’s voice soars high together with K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton’s already mythical, razor-sharp double guitar attack, all backed by the tight rhythm section held together by the steadfast Ian Hill and Dave Holland, flawlessly rocketing those magnificent ten songs into history.
I’d like to mention “Night Comes Down”, a sometimes overlooked song within such an album packed with classics, which took me through many night walks across my city played in my old cassette Walkman, remaining a personal favourite of mine to this day.
