SUPER clear and dead silent!! Glad to
hear one of my favorite dead albums given such treatment -
Edited one month agoTop 5 studio album. Jer voice is angelic and the songs are some of the best of the era. Fun to hear some studio saxophone mixed in which was never played live. My pressing plays nicely and shines with a bit of bass boost for phil. Interesting era as 72 was peak dead for me, then we lose pigpen, gain keith and donna and charge hard into 74 and the wall of sound tours before hiatus.

This pressing is the same as the one that comes in the 2017 box set with Mars Hotel, Blues for Allah and Steal Your Face. I’ve noticed that almost every Dead reissue sounds mostly like muddy garbage unfortunately and having purchased many over the years I wish that it wasn’t the case. My first pressing in N/M condition of Wake of the Flood honestly sounds amazingly warm with an excellent soundstage for a Dead album. Before you dish out hard earned money on these cash grabs maybe think about grabbing an early release first? Just a thought.

I can see where some other reviewers are coming from. Clean pressing but not very dynamic. Plus... Surprise! What side are you listening to? You'll need to examine the dead wax to figure it out. Still happy I bought it. -
I came across 5 or 6 copies, and all of them were pressed very off-center.
Such a shame for an album that is in my all time GD top 3 -

My copy has been pressed Incredibly Off-Center.
Otherwise it sounds great, no clicks or pops. -

Edited 11 months agoThe inner labels on the OG were perfect and one of the reasons I love vinyl records as a medium The creativity behind the crow grasping the turntable spindle is not lost on me. This reissue now has blurry crow drawings on the inner labels without any note of which is side A and B. Lame. Only a minor complaint. Doesnt really matter really.
I'm not really that impressed with the audio on the reissue. I have a VG+ OG that I need to compare, but this reissue sounds kinda muffled and muddy to me. Especially Stella Blue, sounds compressed. I feel like I really need to crank up the volume to get the audio to "open up". -
My copy Side A has a very faint tlc logo- beautiful record. -
Legit pressing, tones come through well with a nice separation in instruments. Pretty decent Dead album.
