The "Scare Easy" music video was actually my introduction to Tom Petty. I love this record and the "in the room" live feel of it. Like anything Chris Bellman touches, it sounds wonderful. Really clear mix with (Tom's) deep bass. There is a touch of crackle in the lead-in and between songs, but nothing that gets in the way of the music itself. The "audiophile" CD is a great addition, too.

As far as the music goes, the first Mudcrutch album is stellar. I’ve had this on CD since it came out and listened to it quite a bit; I still listen to it at least once or twice a year, and each time I say the same thing: “This is fantastic. Why has it been so long since I dug this out?”
For whatever reason, I never got around to picking it up on vinyl until this year when I saw it for a very reasonable price, after ordering it and putting it on the turntable all I can say is this:
        DO NOT BUY!
I’ll leave the gripes about the thin cover and vinyl for someone else, but my big problem is how flat it sounds; there are no dynamics or detail. This is not the quality vinyl sound other Tom Petty releases have led me expect.
So I sent it back and found an earlier pressing on the second-hand market. That earlier pressing had all the detail and dynamic range that made the music come alive: the band sounded like it was in the room. This is the high-quality reputation the Petty camp has earned, but which is undermined by this reissue.
I don’t know who approved this reissue, but they clearly thought this was “good enough,” that people don’t care about sound quality.
So for all of us, please don’t reinforce and reward that line of thought by actually buying this; please leave this turd sandwich exactly where you found it.

This is the 2024 restock that sells for around $25?

Seems like only releasing the audiophile CD with the LPs makes the whole concept completely pointless...?

The number on the spine is different on the 2024 restock.

The jacket also feels a bit thinner.

Been looking for this since they released it. So glad to have landed it and love that it sounds amazingly clean! 👍🏻

I give ALL records a bath before I turn them. 😉

Where's the number on the CD? Neither CD or Album are numbered.

Wow, what a masterpiece. Both the music and the pressing. Great sound, no surface noice and totally flat. Maybe one of Pettys best albums, but way to underrated. Only negative is that the cover is hard thick cardboard so it is very difficult to get the vinyl in and out. But sure, I can live with that. Great album!

Why is the version with a CD listed as a promo? When it came out, I read about it in Rolling Stone. It sounded like a better option than the regular CD, so I went to the record store and bought it. Nothing "promo" about it.
