This is a happy record. Need to get happy? Put this on.
Also, and affordable way to get the infectious “Sports Men” on vinyl.
My pressing is fine. No warps or noise. Sounds like YMMV though based in the other reviews. -
the music & colour is great, but this sounds a little muddy to my ears - totally still listenable though!
-
I hesitate to report this but my brand new copy from the LITA end of year sale does not sound great. LPs 1 and 2 both distorted in some sections.
-
I love this compilation. The pressing is dead quiet and the selection runs together in a very cohesive way. You can tell that this was crafted with love and respect for the city pop genre and all of its various offshoots.

I picked up a brand new copy of the blue version. My favorite song is "say goodbye" by Sato. I put that on first and it had TERRIBLE scraping sounds despite having no marks, scratches or hair on the record. It looked perfect under a bright light. But the sound was always there when i cleaned it.
My local shop replaced it with Vol 3 of this series since they didnt have an extra copy. I just opened it (brand new) and theres dust and hairs all over the record and specs of paper.
The companies involved in the production of these compilations should genuinely feel embarrassed to put out such a sub par product. Ive read some people have good copies, but many dont. And like others have said, for the price of this record, its an insult to the consumer. -
I bought two by mistake, but now I am glad I bought two. One of it got damaged, it sounds very weird, another one sounds very good, flat and quiet.

I can’t stop listening to this. Then I found out they made a #2 and #3 of this same comp! Such great music. Use as background music and you’ll feel like you’re in a vaporwave movie in no time. -
Edited 2 years agoLove the presentation from the artwork to the liner notes and poster. The pressing is really beautiful and it's nearly silent, only minor surface noise in some places. The mastering sounds great especially considering how many different projects this release pulls from. No warping or centering issues either. I recommend this!

Records sound great. I don’t have extensive knowledge of city pop, but this compilation is totally enjoyable!
I’m a sucker for an aesthetically cohesive package and this is it. Color of the vinyl matches perfectly with the album art and inner sleeves. Really pleasing if you’re into the design and packaging. -
