Edited 3 months agoThis sounds really good. No issues to speak off. The remaster sounds good to me. They still sound raw but everything is a bit clearer and punchier. The packaging is nice. I like the commentary on the inside of the jacket. It mentions some of the burrows and venues from Montreal and how the band formed. I appreciate the compact trifold jacket to save space real estate. This is a classic record. The early EP’s are really nice too. Some versions of the songs repeat themselves from the album but they are slightly different and have their own charm to them. Snakes On A Ladder that closes the EP disc on the second side is an amazing song. Wolf Parade is the sound of Montreal. They capture a moment in time that is very nostalgic. This is a good pressing and I highly recommend it.

Sounds really great, no pops, hiss or noise between tracks and a lovely quality package. Highly recommended and the EPs/bonus track are a lovely addition to a classic album

It seems like it was meant to be for me to get this pressing. I couldn’t their name but knew it was near the U’s in the rock/pop section in amoeba hollywood. So there I was looking around in the W’s section, seeing if there were any labels of the band made or if I had to look in the mix of bands that started with W until BAM! There it is! I couldn’t believe it since I’ve looked before many times, even when they did have an actually label for the band, but they recently moved everything and cut certain bands out so it was kind of funny since I couldn’t their name and I’m looking at all the labels hoping their name will pop up. I thought it was a repress since it was 13$ but holy shit it’s red inside and has all the correct labels and such. My mind was on other things since they had a sale on boxsets and some were 50% off. I had almost 500$ worth of boxsets and vinyl so i was just looking at discogs and seeing what was worth getting. Cut it down to 215 and im quite happy with my haul, especially now!
The record sounds great too! I got a good stylus/cartridge and system so I’m usually quite happy with most vinyls. One of the boxsets I bought tho is probably the worst “new” pressings I’ve got. Omar’s Rodrigues the cloud hill tapes boxset is the name and luckily I got it for 17$ but damn Im quite sad since I love Omar and the mars Volta. They looks great too. 180g and flat but god so much crackling. Hopefully a wet clean will help it.
Anyways, i love vinyl hunting and never share my stories so I guess this was the time when my brain wanted to do this. Hope it made you some good times when you were hunting for vinyls too :D

Does anyone else find their copy a little flat. Like sounding like just mp3 quality pressed to vinyl or something and a little bit of hissy surface noise, I'm seeing others saying how great it sounds, but I'm hoping there's another pressing that sounds better because I'd like to sell this copy and get a different one of just the LP and no extra stuff.

Anyone looking for an opened QCed pretty close to NM copy for not a ridiculous amount like 100$, which is highway robbery, DM me. I can provide pics or vid of it's playing at a way better deal.

This pressing is awesome - super quiet with clear, dynamic sound. The mix is slightly different than the original; you can hear the separation of all the instruments more clearly so it takes a little getting used to. Keyboard is a little less in the foreground, for example. Nonetheless it absolutely rips

I have two different versions of this, but the packaging is different for each. One has the inside of the jacket printed red, and the inner sleeve is plain paper. The other has no printing on the inside of the jacket, and has a thick die cut inner sleeve with small Sub Pop logos in a pattern across it. They both have the same runout matrix, both sides, but listening back to back, the one with the thicker inner sleeve sounds different-- a bit louder mastering on several tracks. Anyone have one or the other of these? Should this release be split because of the different printings? -

This record press is just fine, nice quite press from RTI. I haven't heard the new reissue but I'm pretty sure this recording wasn't great to begin with. I thinks it's just great, especially for the price.
