it's a scam label, even the bootled ones are of better quality, it's a shame to buy that, I never take the bread out of my mouth but on this occasion it's abused.
No permission, nothing for artists and crappy quality -
just for avoidance of doubt, PMG definitely changed to Everland to avoid the bad press about them ripping off artists - I bought something from PMG from bandcamp once and I get notifications from Everland now when they release something saying it's because I bought that release, they just changed their name on BC
There was a great podcast somewhere that covered it, roughly the accusations go that PMG pay only small flat fees to artists for the rights to their music and not royalties (many of them now living in financial uncertainty) - Steve Black is their employee and connection who locates the artists and negotiates the payment inside Africa - they respond to interview on the podcast but it's not very believable. If someone has the link please post, though maybe removed by now -
Edited 3 years agoAll these people on here complain about this label, yet how else are we going to hear this rare music? Who else put out so much African LPs on your list in such a short time? Tired of hearing everyone complain about labels, etc....if it's the only way to hear the music, I'll take it. I don't see all you complaining people doing anything to further us hearing this rare stuff. Also, there are "legit" labels that sound like crap, and less legit labels that sound great. Who's to judge? Do you really believe and trust everything you hear and read, and then claim to know what's what?

Edited 4 years agoThe Kiki Jyan Feelin' Alright reissue is taken from an mp3 320 available in web lp rip,
they transcoded , declicked , crap equalized and submit the item as their lp rip,
but the skips and jumps of the 320 are all there at the same timing in the PMG fake reissue...
the only difference is that the 320 undeclicked, obviously, sound much better than this fake transcoded

Edited 5 years agoProbably most unrespectufull imprint label so far....
Quality is not here and serious management direction doesn't seems to be the main line.
As mentionned by previous fellows, money is the only motivation !
Bizzarelly they went to no activity since 2018 when Everland records began theirs!!!!
The only thing i'm thankfull for, is that they made me discover some african funky gems....

Edited 5 years agoTerrible cheap label, collecting money by simply following the lately reissue hype of rare African records and other records who created a strangely high demand. I think and feel the way this label is presenting itself tells you everything, or nothing. The most unattractive records I have ever come across. Zero quality control and integrity.

Edited 5 years agougly label with their crappy logo on it, cd quality, paper sleeves that leave marks on vinyl... do not recommend.
