This label really personifies the UK electronic sound for me. Melancholic, deep, playful and diverse in its output. Thank you Clair for doing such a great job with this imprint! It may be worth mentioning that if you like this label you should also turn your focus on the deFocus imprint which Clair started after Clear.

Such an influential label. The owners ran this label out of love. I have test presses of clr 440 and 441, but I don't know who the artists are... or why no one has submitted info on them to discogs.

The Clear label was founded, curated and owned by Hal Udell and Clair Walley.

As I'm sure most of you know, it was Clair, formerly of Rephlex, who started the Clear label. I don't know if she had any idea how influential this imprint would be. Releasing records by Tom Middleton & Mark Pritchard, Plaid, Autechre, and many others, usually under pseudonyms, she presaged the 'new electro' movement by at least seven years.
