College Of William & Mary, Williamsburg

American public research university, founded in 1693 and based in Williamsburg, Virginia. The College of William & Mary (officially abbreviated as William & Mary) is the second-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. It also appeared on the 1985 list of "Public Ivy" schools (with academic standards comparable to prestigious Ivy League), alongside University Of Vermont (Burlington) and eight University of California campuses: Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Diego, Irvine, Davis, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Riverside.
