Studio Z (3)

Profile:

Recording studio owned by Pal Recording Studio. The studio was situated at: 8040 Archibald Avenue, Cucamonga, California, USA.

It was Frank Zappa - The Lost Episodes and especially Buff's series of "The Pal And Original Sound Studio Archives".

From "The Real Frank Zappa Book" (1989): "Cucamonga was a blotch on a map, represented by the intersection of Route 66 and Archibald Avenue. On those four corners we had an Italian restaurant, an Irish pub, a malt shop and a gas station. North, up Archibald, were an electrician's shop, a hardware store and the recording studio."

Don Vliet's route in his father's Helms Bread truck also coincided with the locale - enabling a further interesting meeting of minds and events.
The sights: The Italian restaurant was 'Cafe Italiano'. Beside it was the Ancil Morris Cucamonga Service Station on NW corner. On the SW corner was the malt shop, the Cucamonga Cafe and on the NE was Cucamonga Hardware. The electrician's shop was 'Citrus Electric' and the 'Irish Pub' FZ mentions was likely 'The Tavern' - possibly also known as 'Shanty Devlin's'.
