Helladisc S.A.

Profile:

Helladisc was a Greek record company (now defunct) founded by Victoras Antippas (Polydor.

On July 1, 1970 Helladisc acquired Universal Music Greece in the late '90s.

On April 11, 2011 Cobalt Music - Helladisc S.A. (Greece) when Universal was required to divest assets after its acquisition of EMI. Universal retained Minos-EMI in Greece.

Also appears as "Ελλαδίσκ Α.Ε." or just "Helladisc".

Unlike originally thought, Helladisc did not operate a record manufacturing plant. Their records were pressed by Philips Greece who had four 12” and two 7” manual electric presses installed at the Philips light bulb factory in Athens. The country code "410" was used in the runouts. The '410' code was later ed on to the Polygram-owned factory G.P.I. S.A. and thus became known as "Polygram country code". Cutting and plating services were provided to Philips Greece by Polygram plants in Holland and for international repertoire and most probably by EMI Greece for Helladisc's local reportoire.

Managing director was Γιάννης Πετρίδης.
