Profile:

Vinyl pressing plant facility in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Opened in March 1973 and dissolved in 1981. Full name: Sound Manufacturing (Hayes) Limited.

Headed by managing director John Wooler, who had 40 years previous experience working for EMI Records Ltd. Initially specializing in the production of 12" records, the plant was a refurbished factory covering 4000 square feet and had the capacity to press orders of from between 50 and 1000 albums.

Records pressed at Sound Manufacturing are identifiable by either a "△ ####" or "C ####" (on 12" pressings), or "K ###" or "◊ ###" (on 7" pressings) stamp in the matrix/runout. Identification numbers should be entered into the LCCN field as stamped (e.g. △ 2931).
