Recording studio in Chicago, Illinois (USA), founded in 1947 by Bill Putnam.

In the late '40s the studio had its own in-house label Universal Recording Corp. In the early-to-mid-'50s, the studio was located at 46 E. Walton St. on Rush St.

Engineers known to have worked here: Murray Allen (became president in the early 1970's)

Lacquer cuts can be identified by UR and a third letter, denoting the mastering/cutting engineer, e.g., URJ, URM, etc.
