Le Palace Théâtre

Profile:

Le Palace is a Paris theatre located at 8, rue du Faubourg-Montmartre in the 9th arrondissement, best known for its years as a nightclub between 1978 and 1996.
Built in 1912, it was initially a movie theatre before becoming a music venue in 1921. The venue is bought by club promoter Fabrice Emaer in 1978 and turned into a night club inspired by NY Studio 54. Le Palace's opening night in March 1978 sees Guy Cuevas DJ sets.
Emaer's death in 1983 marks the end of an era and le Palace struggled with debts before becoming a hotbed for the emerging house music scene in the second half of the '80s, especially with parties hosted at le Privilège, the smaller club within le Palace. Successively managed by David Guetta (1994-1996), le Palace closes down in 1996, before re-opening as a concert and comedy venue in 2008.
