Radio Bremen Sendesaal

Profile:

The Sendesaal Bremen, previously named Radio Bremen Sendesaal (Studio F), is a live performance and recording venue in Bremen-Schwachhausen, previously used by the broadcaster Radio Bremen between 1952 und 2007.

A virtually revolutionary construction method was tested and successfully introduced here: the hall is built completely room-in-room, ceilings and walls of the interior are ed on 655 springs of the outer shell, whereby the interior is optimally insulated against external noise. For 55 years it served Radio Bremen as its best music studio. Historically important recordings and concerts were held there by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, to name a few.

Radio Bremen moved to a new building in 2007 and had given up the old premises including the broadcasting hall. Since March 2009, the citizens' initiative "Verein Freunde des Sendesaales" (Friends of the Broadcasting Hall Association) is running the entire studio complex renamed Alter Sendesaal, Bremen, which in addition to the broadcasting hall also includes a small spoken word studio and a state-of-the-art radio play studio.
