Series of Quadraphonic-format reissues from original 1970s 4-channel master tapes, issued first in DTS DVD format, then on high-resolution Blu-Ray discs.
In 2010, after WEA shut down their high-resolution 5.1 surround DVD-Audio format, Rhino issued a limited "Rhino Handmade" DVD edition of Chicago’s 1969 debut album containing a newly-remastered digital transfer of the 1974 quadraphonic mix, under the “Quadio” banner. Though this reissue was meant to start an ongoing series, only one more entry ("The Best Of Aretha Franklin") was issued in this format before WEA pulled the plug on this effort too.
However, the idea didn't die and a Chicago box set was released in 2016, followed by a Doobie Brothers set in 2020, in Blu-Ray format. After the success of these efforts, Rhino announced the release of 4 more titles in June, 2023, with the promise of more to come.
