By researching Volition's relationship to its distributors (as shown on the releases), it is possible to ascertain that:
- From 1984 to 1988 Volition releases were distributed by CBS Records Australia Limited.
- It's not clear during 1989 which company distributed Volition releases.
- From 1990 to approx. mid-1992 Volition releases were either distributed by BMG.
- From approx. mid-1992 to 1998 Volition releases were exclusively licensed to Sony Music.
