The roots of the company were founded in Australia in 1948 as E.M.I. (Australia) Pty. Limited. The trading name has changed several times (see notes below).
Active independently until 29th January 2013, until certain companies that formed part of the EMI Recorded Music Australia Pty Ltd which is now istered by Universal Music Australia Pty Ltd. and forms part of the Universal Music Group.

Do not confuse with other trading names of the EMI Australia company:
EMI if their logo is present, or other labels as most prominently appear.
