Casa Faulhaber & Co.

Profile:

Brazilian general store and record company ran by João Felipe Faulhaber.

Somewhere by 1910 it came in with Favorite GmbH of the Favorite label for the pressing of local recordings. Favorite sent engineer Max Birkhahn to set up a recording studio. By 1911, Favorite single-side records of brazilian origin were already being pressed in Linden, .

The deal presumably lasted until Favorite's adquisition by Carl Lindström A.-G., who choose to discontinue the brand.

By 1914, Fred Figner of Casa Edison Fred Figner had initiated a lawsuit over patent breach. The validity or result of the lawsuit is unknown, but the outcome is that Casa Faulhaber ends up retreating from the recording industry.

Despite it's short tenure, the Faulhaber store is credited credited with having recorded the country's earliest Sambas and Choros.
