If some of these artists / music labels would take note of what big pink are releasing and look at the sales, maybe they might get off their lazy asses and officially release some of the rare and out of print stuff that needs to be re issued. Ex. The presidents - muscles. I want this on cd but I wanna pay around $50 or less. Sure I’ll pay a higher price than a regular in print release, but im tired of being slammed with a $700 price tag for this. I don’t bootlegs or piracy unless I can’t get it any other way.

We really need clarity on the issue of whether Big Pink is, in fact, producing unauthorized releases or not, as it is leading to discrepancies within Discogs' database, such as this reissue of the Bob Seger System album Noah being labeled as "unauthorized":
      https://discogs.sitiosdesbloqueados.info/release/25096837-Bob-Seger-System-Noah
Yet seemingly the same pressing, albeit with a new OBI for Japanese distribution (VIA Vivid Sound, a legitimate company), is not listed as such:
      https://discogs.sitiosdesbloqueados.info/release/25913524-Bob-Seger-System-Noah

Now, to be fair, I've seen Vivid Sound re-brand a few reissues before which came from questionable sources, but that alone doesn't mean that a reissue is unauthorized, nor does (unfortunately) a musician claiming such (as there could be several reasons why a musician would not be consulted, or even paid, when an album of theirs is reissued...unfortunately, it is all too common). Do we have any official statements on the matter?

Several of this label's releases have already been blocked for sale by individual copyright complaints of various musicians. It's obvious that this is a bootleg label which specializes in taking existing music (often with poor vinyl sources) and repackaging them without consent of any musicians or proprietors of the rights. If you are a copyright owner who has been scammed by this label, I suggest that you submit a legal request to Discogs to block releases from being sold on this platform. You can submit such a request using Discogs' online form here: https://.discogs.sitiosdesbloqueados.info/hc/en-us/requests/new

Thanks for the info on Big Pink, all. After buying supposed 'Japanese' releases off of the Tachika label, I would really prefer not to repeat the same mistake twice. So much for buying 'Movin On' By Circus.

In the website of the CD shop operated by Japanese label Circus (8) issued from Big Pink as "Unofficial".

Big Pink are a bootleg outfit, they do not own the rights to the albums they are pressing.

Big Pink screwed the sound up on so many releases I've heard, to the extent they probably have on all their releases I'm sure. Cheap digital remastering, compression or treble boosting. Sad because it's the only way to find a cheap option to hear some of these albums. Avoid them.
