Tony Garcia

Real Name:

Anthony Garcia

Profile:

Tony Garcia started as a street DJ in NYC in 1970s. In 1983 he released his first track, "Can't Get Enough of You" by Wickett, for Mr. T Records. In 1986 he founded High Power Records, where he launched the careers of several well-known Freestyle artists such as Peter Fontaine, Reinald-O, Wickett Rich and N.V. In 1990, High Power Records secured a distribution deal with Warlock Records. Tony Garcia is best known for his 1991 hit "Take Me in Your Arms" by Lil' Suzy, and during the freestyle resurgence of the mid-1990s, High Power Records scored minor hits with Natalie/Angelique. During this period, Garcia reused the "Planet Rock" loop on nearly every song he produced for his fans. He called this "Funky Melody Freestyle". In 1995, Garcia teamed up with his brother's former partner, Elvin Molina, and created two subsidiaries for Metropolitan Recording Corp.: T.G. Records and Funky Melody Records. "Planet Rock" was all but abandoned for a more traditional sound on the T.G./Funky Melody releases. In the late 1990s, High Power's relationship with Warlock Records came to an end and became a self-distributed independent label once again. Tony Garcia began remixing and re-releasing the High Power, T.G. and Funky Melody Records catalog. More recently, Tony Garcia has been involved with freestyle concerts in Brazil. Tony Garcia is a genius in doing what he does. people who follow the music industry know record labels do a lot of changes to keep the movement going. The Temptations for starters, the name kept going with different dingers. This is one of many artist/groups that did it.
