Doug Rhodes (2)

American keyboard, sax and bass player. Born in Southern California on May 28, 1945. Grew up playing jazz. moved to Hollywood in 1965. Toured the US in 1965-1966 with The Music Machine. For 4 years did session work as a bass player in Los Angeles (USA) before relocating to Victoria in British Columbia, Canada in 1971. There he has worked with Valdy and drummer Doug Rhodes off and on for nearly 40 years, as well as with Kathy Stack, Monte Nordstrom, Clark Brendon, and others. Plays bass in the traditional fiddle scene with his daughter, Sasha. He plays saxophone and sings with Devon McCagherty & The Stomp Club and with the CanUS Hot Jazz Sextet, and has been the musical director of the Belvedere Broadcasters since 2000.
