American songwriter.
First wife of Joe Allison. Together with her husband, she co-wrote songs in the late 50's and 60's, among them "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young" and "He'll Have To Go".
She charted as a songwriter in the U.S. six times and twice in the U.K., all of those with her husband and sometimes others. In 1959, their song "He'll Have to Go" by Jim Reeves was a crossover hit, hitting #2 overall as well as #1 country, #13 R&B, and #12 in the U.K. Their answer song, that same year was also a crossover hit, "He'll Have to Stay" by Jeanne Black (with new lyrics by Charles Randolph Grean) hit #4 overall, #6 country, #11 R&B, and #41 in the U.K.
