Bill Putnam

Renowned American audio engineer, songwriter, producer, studio designer and businessman who has been described as "the father of modern recording".
Born February 20, 1920 Danville, Illinois Died April 13, 1989 (aged 69).
He was married to songwriter/engineer/tape editor Belinda Putnam.
He was the inventor of the modern recording console and is recognized as a key figure in the development of the postwar commercial recording industry. The first studio he founded was United Western Studios.
He charted with a song he and his wife wrote together "Good Morning, Mr. Echo" three times in 1951. It hit #12 by Jane Turzy, then #21 by Georgia Gibbs, and finally #14 by Margaret Whiting.
