Daniel (Dan) Shapiro (1920-1982, New York, NY) was a painter and printmaker who studied at Cooper Union Art School and Columbia University. He went on to teach at Bennington College and later at the University of California at Davis. Shapiro’s work was exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Art in the 1960s at a time when he also had many gallery shows with other UC Davis faculty such as Wayne Thiebaud, Roy DeForest and Manuel Neri.
