W. T. Berry

American drummer, born July 31, 1958, in Duluth, Minnesota, USA.

Founding member of alternative rock band R.E.M., formed 1980 in Athens, Georgia. Bill suffered a brain aneurysm on March 1, 1995, when he was on tour with the band, and subsequently retired from the group in 1997. He made sporadic live appearances with the group before they retired in 2011.

Now works as a hay farmer in Georgia and, in 2022, came out of retirement to The Bad Ends, a supergroup based out of Athens, Georgia. This is Bill's first band since retiring from R.E.M.
