Os Paralamas Do Sucesso
Profile: |
Paralamas do Sucesso is a Brazilian rock band formed in 1982 in Brasília, known for blending rock with reggae, ska, and Brazilian rhythms. The original lineup consists of Herbert Vianna (vocals, guitar), Bi Ribeiro (bass), and João Barone (drums). They gained national recognition with their second album, "O o do Lui" (1984), which included hits such as "Óculos" and "Meu Erro". Their 1986 album "Selvagem?" marked a shift towards a more politically engaged sound and expanded their popularity in Latin America. The band remained commercially successful throughout the 1990s with albums like "9 Luas" (1996). In 2001, Herbert Vianna survived an ultra-light aeroplane crash that left him paraplegic, but the group continued to record and perform. Paralamas do Sucesso remains active, regularly releasing new material and touring, maintaining their status as one of Brazil’s most enduring rock bands. |
