Paul Ray

Austin, Texas blues vocalist, radio host and producer, born August 12, 1942 and died January 15, 2016.
Ray was born in Dallas, Texas, Ray began singing in his late teens, fronting groups like The Playboys. While attending university he befriended blues musician Jimmie Vaughan and others, moving with them to Austin, Texas in 1970 as they formed the blues group Texas Storm/The Storm.
In the 1970s, he formed and fronted blues group Paul Ray & The Cobras. He continued with The Cobras until the late 1970s when throat problems led him to largely retire from singing.
He began hosting radio show Twine Time on KUT in 1978 and continued hosting this and other radio shows until his ing.
