She grew up in the Ménilmontant district of Paris and began her career in a nightclub near the Champs-Élysées, where she was discovered by composer and arranger Paul Mauriat. Mauriat played a pivotal role in encouraging her singing career and helping her secure a recording contract.

Philippe's rise to fame came in the mid-1960s when she signed with the Philips label. She achieved significant success with hits such as "Mes amis, mes copains," "C’est la mode," "Le mannequin," and "Tu peux partir où tu voudras," a French version of John Phillips' song "Go Where You Wanna Go." She also wrote some of her material, including the song "Lettre pour Annie".

In addition to her music career, Annie Philippe ventured into acting. She is known for her roles in films such as "The Blonde from Peking" (1967), "Itinerary of a Spoiled Child" (1988), and "A Little Comfort" (2004).
