American songwriter. 1950/60s. Often collaborated with lyricist Fred Ebb. Together, they wrote their first book musical, "Morning Sun". Klein contributed songs to the cabaret revue "Isn't America Fun" (1959) and the Broadway revue "From A to Z" (1960).
Hits Klein and Ebb wrote together include "Close the Door", "Good and Lonesome" (also co-written by Larry Coleman), "What Would We Do?", "Little Blue Man", "That Do Make It Nice" (also co-written by Eddy Arnold) and "Ev'ry Second Of" (also co-written by Redd Evans).
Klein retired from the music industry in the late 1950's for a more stable life.
