Torgny Sjöstedt

Real Name:

Torgny Nils Axel Sjöstedt

Profile:

Swedish musician and author, born June 19, 1952 in Örgryte.

In 1968, the group Love Explosion was formed with Sjöstedt on guitar and violin. The group also included Dennis Huntington as a singer and songwriter. Love Explosion performed three years in a row at the annual Gärdetfesterna in Stockholm. The band belonged to the play-yourself movement; no training was required to play. In 1971, the record label MNW released Bästa låtar med Love Explosion. The album was praised by the Radio Board and has been listed as a classic in Swedish prog culture in Jan Gradvall's book Tusen svenska klassiker.

In the early 1980s, Sjöstedt and Huntington were responsible for the music for the Atelierteatern's production of Maratondansen with, among others, Babben Larsson and Claes Malmberg. In 1982, Sjöstedt was the frontman of the group Togges gossar; among the group's were Ulf Dageby and guitarist Göran Berg. During the 2000s, Sjöstedt was active in the group Togges Band and collaborated with, among others, Torkel Rasmusson from Blå Tåget.

In 2011, the publishing house MBM published Sjöstedt's book Vi hade rätt hela tiden.
