Music writer since 1970. Originally worked with Newcastle Evening Chronicle; ed London Freelance Branch in 1979. Publications he has written for include Sounds, Smash Hits, The Face, The Northern Echo, Q, Blender, the Los Angeles Times and Mojo. He also used the alias Mike Stand.
