Peuppus-Kapelle

Profile:

Bavarian brass band, founded by Jakob Peuppus (1859-1905) in Munich.

Peuppus' band was so popular that it was hired to perform at the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, NY. After Peuppus' death in January 1905, the successful band continued to perform, first under the leadership of Martin Fischer (1905-1908). From 1908 until at least 1911, it was headed by the Austrian Emil Kaiser (1853-1929), in the 1920s by Jacob Peuppus' son Martin Peuppus (1882-1965), with whom it performed at the 1926 World Fair in Philadelphia. The band gave its farewell concert at the 1929 Munich Oktoberfest.

Under Fischer, the band recorded for Victor (1926).
